For your Best Wedding DJ experience, choosy future brides and grooms-to-be choose DJ Ray.

DJ Ray is an entertainer both on and on Radio for some time. His career has taken him to great Radio station experiences starting in his hometown of Cleveland, OH. That’s when I got the ‘Radio bug’ and sneaked my way into becoming a board operator and booth announcer at WXEN-FM 106.5.
Six months after high school graduation, my military draft number came up and did the right thing. I enlisted in the US Army. Uncle Sam sent me to Fayetteville, NC, to entertain the troops at Fort Bragg. I was working in the Public Information Office (PIO) in the Radio/TV section.
In the early ’70s, Fort Bragg was the largest military installation east of the Mississippi. WOW! Great experience, fun but scary times, and would do it all over again for my country.

While performing military duties during the day, at night I was the screaming, high-energy DJ, The Wildman, holding down the 6 pm til midnight shift. At that time, WFLB-AM 1490 was the #1 Arbitron-rated Top 40 Radio station of 3 in Fayetteville, NC. Now, the rest of the story.

After my military service, I was hired as night DJ at BIG WISE AM 1310. Within 3 months, promoted to Program Director (PD) and afternoon DJ at BIG WISE AM 1310 in Asheville, NC, from 1976 until December 1980.

In January 1981, I signed on as PD and on-air DJ at not one but TWO of Savannah’s legendary radio stations: WSGA-AM (The Rockin’ 140) and WZAT-FM (The Music FM Z-102). The turn of events in 1994 led me to an on-air announcer and Sales Manager position at Savannah’s only locally owned and operated Radio station, WRHQ-FM, Quality Rock Q105.3. To this day (10-16-21) I am (with legendary Georgia Broadcasters Association’s Hall of Fame inductee and owner Jerry Rogers) still rockin’ here in the Free World.

DJ Ray started SOUNDS GREAT! Entertainment in 1984 as an extension of my talent and love for entertaining groups of people from being on the Radio. Up until this present day, I perform almost every weekend. It could be a wedding reception, class reunion, maybe a birthday party. I even host special events, oyster roasts, retirement parties, even a charitable organizations’ fundraising event.

DJ Ray pride’s himself on customizing his service and pays close attention to detail for every event. He meets prior to any and all events, if possible, with everyone in person (since 85% of the brides and grooms-to-be are out of town).
